Brain drain across Nigeria
After slave trade, it came
Best and bright brains on transit
Across Europe, America, Asia

Oil tanks are full, seems inexhaustible
Brain tanks gone, far off coast
But what would become of us
When the oil tanks exhaust

Brain drain across Nigeria
Oil crude from Niger-Delta
Sudden disappearance of groundnut pyramid
Best brains fast disappearing too

When they fight in the house
When they shout in the senate
They are just after their elastic pockets
While the masses are poor, dead and forgotten

Brain drain across Nigeria
Going Europe through desert and ocean
Better dead in desert, in waters trying escape
Than stay and die hungry in our national prison

Such is our fate, such is our woe
Corrupt battered brains are left in politics
Good ones gone, far in exiles
Now we perish in political experiments.
